Will I be charged again for an MOT retest?
You’ll only need a partial retest if you take the vehicle from the test centre for repairs and take it back within 10 working days. The garage is entitled to charge for a partial retest fee in this instance.
When can I get a free retest?
You are entitled to a free MOT retest if you have your vehicle repaired for any failure items and booked for a retest within 10 working days of the failure certificate being issued.
What happens if I take longer than 10 days to repair my vehicle?
If you take longer than 10 working days to fix any MOT failure items, you will be required to pay the cost of a full MOT.
Can I take my vehicle to be repaired elsewhere?
Yes. You are not under any obligation to have your vehicle repaired at the same garage that did your MOT.
Can I get my retest for free at another garage?
No. To be entitled to a free MOT retest, you must take your vehicle back to the garage that did the original MOT test.
